Munson-Williams-Proctor Museum of Art has works on view by some of history’s most celebrated visionaries like Picasso and Pollock, plus Thomas Cole’s original “Voyage of Life” series, all showcased in a Philip Johnson designed building listed on the Register of Historic Places. Wellin Museum of Art collections represent a diverse array of periods and media like Greek and Roman antiquities, Native American art, Chinese ritual bronzes and pieces from pre-Columbian Mesoamerica.

Artists-in-residence explore new frontiers at Sculpture Space. Stroll through their commissioned public art installations at Griffiss International Sculpture Garden. View a thoughtful selection of outstanding performances and regional exhibits at Kirkland Art Center and Rome Art and Community Center.

GROOVE ON

Utica’s Levitt Amp Music Series rocks 10 weeks of free, family-friendly outdoor concerts at Kopernik Park in Oneida Square with national headliners, regional/local opening acts and the most diverse audience in the area.

ON STAGE

The Stanley, Utica’s opulent 1928 theatre features Mexican Baroque architecture, plays host to a full series of Broadway shows fall to spring. Theatre at Woodshill conducts a summertime Shakespeare festival in an iconic round-roof barn on a picturesque farm setting. Players of Utica, Rome Community Theater and Unity Hall offer intimate performance settings. Capitol Theatre, Rome’s historic 1928 movie palace, attracts vintage film buffs from around the world each year for Capitolfest, a 3-day rare 35mm silent and early talkie movie film festival.
