Patriotism and the American Flag have special importance here! Rome Cemetery is the final resting place of Francis Julius Bellamy (1855-1931), the original author of the “Pledge of Allegiance”. The pledge he wrote was first used October 21, 1892, in honor of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America.
